GOD WILL PASS BY

Rodney Griffin

Elijah sat down on the banks of the river
He wondered how long 'til God would pass by
A promise that ravens his food would deliver
He said to himself, "My God will supply."

Still the hours passed on, and no help was coming
He looked toward the sky; there was nothing to see
Would he be wrong if he asked God to hurry?
With tears in his eyes, he rose to his feet.

He lifted his hands and a feeble prayer uttered
His body so weak and bound to fail soon
Suddenly, he heard some bird wings aflutter
He fell to his knees for God had come through.

God will pass by at the right time.
God will pass by so lift up your eyes.
Oh, weary child, let your light shine;
Your rescue is almost in sight.
You have a promise that God will pass by;
No greater promise than God will pass by.

You've waited so long and still have no answer
You've prayed and you've prayed for help to arrive.
Don't you lose hope, just stand by the river
Offer Him praise; your Savior is nigh!

God will pass by at the right time.
God will pass by so lift up your eyes.
Oh, weary child, let your light shine;
Your rescue is almost in sight.
You have a promise that God will pass by;
No greater promise than God will pass by.
