FOREVER HOME

In memory of my grandmother, Betty Hughes, and my Bible mentor, Charlie Rice, who both went home to be with Jesus this weekend.  We sorrow at their passing but are filled with joy knowing that they have finally reached their forever home.

He always spoke of Heaven like he'd been there before
He said it was the one thing that he was living for
How bittersweet the moment, the sunset of life
As we all cried and said our last goodbye
And watched him take his flight

Forever home, Living in the arms of Jesus now
Standing in the shadow of the throne he bows
I can almost see him there
No more tears, pain has lost its hold on him
He's more alive than he's ever been
He's arrived, oh I know
He's forever home

Among the saints and angels he's joined the choir of praise
With others who have flown there on the wings of perfect grace
Just like the countless millions, all those who've been redeemed
He casts his crowns down at the Savior's feet
As hallelujahs ring

Forever home, Living in the arms of Jesus now
Standing in the shadow of the throne he bows
I can almost see him there
No more tears, pain has lost its hold on him
He's more alive than he's ever been
He's arrived, oh I know
He's forever home

Forever free from heartache
Forever free from loss
Forever free to live and breathe Because of Calvary's cross
Forever free of living with all these earthly groans
He's living like he's always dreamed in his forever home

Forever home, Living in the arms of Jesus now
Standing in the shadow of the throne he bows
I can almost see him there
No more tears, pain has lost its hold on him
He's more alive than he's ever been
He's arrived, oh I know
He's forever home

UNDER CONTROL

Roger Holmes and Jim Wood

The Bible speaks of famines and trials
In the last day, how they'll sweep through our land
But we have His assurance that through all these trials
We'll be led by His mighty hand.
Manna from God will come down from above
To restore and to nourish our souls
So through all of your trials and all of your fears
Remember God has it under control.

Under control (the winds obey His will)
Under control (when He speaks, the storms be still)
Oh, don't be afraid (Oh, don't be afraid)
Though the billows may roll (the billows may roll)
God's almighty hand (Aaaahhhh)
Is still in command (Ah, is still in command)
So rejoice in your soul (rejoice in your soul)
For it's under control (it's under control)

Now you may be like David of old
And a giant trial you may face,
But just when it seems you're standing alone,
You'll find Jesus standing there in your place.
With a stone of faith, your giant will fall
And Jesus all the victory will give.
So today as back then, in this world so full of sin,
Remember God has it under control.

Under control (the winds obey His will)
Under control (when He speaks, the storms be still)
Oh, don't be afraid (Oh, don't be afraid)
Though the billows may roll (the billows may roll)
God's almighty hand (Aaaahhhh)
Is still in command (Ah, is still in command)
So rejoice in your soul (rejoice in your soul)
For it's under control (it's under control)

IT'S UNDER THE BLOOD

Leonard Fletcher

While walking down a memory lane of paths so long ago
Old Satan came right by my side, making me feel low
He brought up thoughts of hurt and pain when I had gone astray
He wanted to discourage me as I walked along my way

He said you’re undeserving 'cause I know where you’ve been
I have a record of your life when you were bound by sin
I know your darkest secrets that you would never tell
What makes you think you don’t deserve a place with me in Hell?

I heard the old accuser and this was my reply
"You’re right, for all the things I’ve done, I sure deserve to die.
My righteousness is filthy rags; my goodness is unclean
There’s only one thing I can say to what you’ve said to me."

It's under the blood, oh praise His dear name!
I'm not what I used to be, my life’s been changed.
Not shackled by sin and shame, it's already gone.
I'm happy reminding him, it's under the blood!

Victory was given me when I was born again
He washed my stained and sinful past and put new life within
No longer do I bear the mark that sin had brought my way
With happiness and peace of mind, praise God, I now can say

It's under the blood, oh praise His dear name!
I'm not what I used to be, my life’s been changed.
Not shackled by sin and shame, it's already gone.
I'm happy reminding him, it's under the blood!

What can wash away my sin;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again;
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

It's under the blood, oh praise His dear name!
I'm not what I used to be, my life’s been changed.
Not shackled by sin and shame, it's already gone.
I'm happy reminding him, it's under the blood!

YOU RAISE ME UP

Brendan Graham

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit a while with me.

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

I Could Never Praise Him Enough

Chris Allman

I could never praise Him enough
For the cross of Calvary
I could never thank Him enough
For salvation full and free
I could never do anything
To deserve such perfect love
Oh, for everything He’s done
I could never praise Him enough

For many years I’ve served the Lord
The best that I know how
Giving unto Him my time
And telling of His power
But if I were to spend
Unending hours on my knees
Praising Him for everything
He’s ever done for me

I could never praise Him enough
For the cross of Calvary
I could never thank Him enough
For salvation full and free
I could never do anything
To deserve such perfect love
Oh, for everything He’s done
I could never praise Him enough

A thousand tongues could never tell
Just what the Lord has done
As if He hadn’t done enough
He sent His only Son
To hang upon a rugged cross
And bear the load of sin
That explains why I can’t express
The love I have for Him

I could never praise Him enough
For the cross of Calvary
I could never thank Him enough
For salvation full and free
I could never do anything
To deserve such perfect love
Oh, for everything He’s done
I could never praise Him enough

So, I’ll sing thank you, Lord,
For saving my soul
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole

I could never do anything
To deserve such perfect love
Oh, for everything He’s done
I could never praise Him enough

AGAIN

Rodney Griffin

You ask me why I'm smiling,
You ask me why I'm free.
Why it seems I have no worries,
And I live a life of ease.
Well, believe me when I tell you
I've seen the strong winds blow,
But when I need a shelter,
I have a place to go.

Again in His arms,
Again safe from harm.
I will run to Jesus again.
Again drawing near,
Again free from fear,
Like a child who knows
When danger's closing in
I will run to Jesus again.

Who else is there to help me
When I am in need?
Who else is there to strengthen
When I am tired and weak?
Who else can give protection
Until the storm subsides?
There's no one else like Jesus
So I will run and hide. . .

Again in His arms,
Again safe from harm.
I will run to Jesus again.
Again drawing near,
Again free from fear,
Like a child who knows
When danger's closing in
I will run to Jesus again.

HEALER OF MY HEART

Author?

You're the healer of my heart when my world is torn apart.
You're the mender of my soul, only you can make me whole.
You're my peace in troubled times; when I'm broken, Lord I find
All I need is who you are. You're the healer of my heart.

My Comforter, my constant friend, my source of help
You know me even better than I know myself
You know that I am merely clay, a vessel that so often breaks
But when I do, Lord, then you take the pieces of me
And make them complete.

You're the healer of my heart when my world is torn apart.
You're the mender of my soul, only you can make me whole.
You're my peace in troubled times; when I'm broken, Lord I find
All I need is who you are. You're the healer of my heart.

I run for shelter in the shadow of your wings
When to the cross, my hands can barely cling.
And in that blessed hiding place, I'm covered by amazing grace
And in the warmth of love's embrace, my strength is renewed
In these moments with You.

You're the healer of my heart when my world is torn apart.
You're the mender of my soul, only you can make me whole.
You're my peace in troubled times; when I'm broken, Lord I find
All I need is who you are. You're the healer of my heart.

OVER AND OVER

Belinda Smith and Sue C. Smith

I've stood on the bank of a wide, raging river
Trusting that I'd get across.
I've made my way through some valleys and deserts
Believing that I'd never get lost.
I've been at the foot of what felt like Mt. Everest
Knowing I'd have the strength for the climb
'Cause through every trial, each test and temptation,
One thing is sure every time:

Over and over, again and again,
God is faithful.
Over and over, again and again,
Through it all He's made me able
To stand and survive, to come through alive
When it sure looked like I couldn't win.
Jesus is with me so I claim the victory
Over and over again.

If you ask me why I have no hesitation,
God does what He says He will do.
I'd simply say every battle has taught me
There's nothing He won't help me through.
So why should I dwell on the hardships and struggles
When I look just beyond them I see
The way this will end is with great celebration,
Deep in my heart I believe:

Over and over, again and again,
God is faithful.
Over and over, again and again,
Through it all He's made me able
To stand and survive, to come through alive
When it sure looked like I couldn't win.
Jesus is with me so I claim the victory
Over and over again.

WITHOUT THE CROSS

Jeff Ferguson & Rebecca J. Peck

Made of wood, built by man
There it stood, salvation’s plan
Adam’s fall and my own sin
It was all placed on Him

Without the cross, I would not know
Redeeming love that sought my soul
Without the blood, where would I be
I would be lost without the cross

Mercy spilled blood divine
On Calvary’s hill for all mankind
Flowing through the ages past
Destined to reach me at last

Without the cross, I would not know
Redeeming love that sought my soul
Without the blood, where would I be
I would be lost without the cross

I can’t repay Him for the grace
He poured out on that tree
But I’ll live my life for Jesus Christ
For all He’s done for me

Without the cross, I would not know
Redeeming love that sought my soul
Without the blood, where would I be
I would be lost without the cross

SOMEBODY'S MIRACLE

Lee Black, Kenna Turner West, & Brian White

Somebody somewhere's got something that's weighing them down
Feels like their whole world is crumbling, crashing to the ground
They're pleading; they're praying, saying, "Jesus, help me please!"
And I know that He will, but sometimes you and I we gotta be. . .

Somebody's miracle
Somebody's answer to prayer,
You know everybody's got a need
Yeah, it's up to you and me
We could be, we could be
Somebody's miracle

You know you don't have to look, yeah, too far at all
To find the hopeless and hurting in and outside these walls
They're bruised and they're broken, just hoping someone will see
They need the love of Jesus, oh, we've got the chance to be. . .

Somebody's miracle
Somebody's answer to prayer,
You know everybody's got a need
Yeah, it's up to you and me
We could be, we could be
Somebody's miracle

Don't gotta be a preacher man
Don't you know anybody can, anybody can be. . .

Somebody's miracle
Somebody's answer to prayer, you know
You know everybody's got a need
Yeah, it's up to you and me
We could be, we could be
Somebody's miracle

I WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE

Joel Lindsey and Wayne Haun

Well, a woman was healed when she touched the hem of his clothes
That's just one of those stories that everybody knows
Oh, I know the facts, but I'd love to feel
What the blind man felt when his eyes were healed
He went running through the streets to share

I wish I could have been there
When the thousands were fed with just two fish and some bread
And see the little boy a packin' up the rest
I wish I could have been there
To see the lame that could leap and hear the dumb that could speak
And see the multitudes of people Jesus blessed
I wish I could have seen the stone that went a rollin' away
When they looked inside the door to where the grave clothes lay
I didn't see but I believe that he ascended in the air
And I really wish I could have been there

When He commanded Lazarus to walk right out of His grave
And in a Galilean storm, He started calming the waves
I wanna feel that breeze blowing on my face
I wanna know the smell; I wanna taste the taste
Just reading 'bout it couldn't compare

I wish I could have been there
When the thousands were fed with just two fish and some bread
And see the little boy a packin' up the rest
I wish I could have been there
To see the lame that could leap and hear the dumb that could speak
And see the multitudes of people Jesus blessed
I wish I could have seen the stone that went a rollin' away
When they looked inside the door to where the grave clothes lay
I didn't see but I believe that he ascended in the air
And I really wish I could have been there

APPLAUSE

Lee Black and Ben Storie

She rode the bus until the dusty road came to an end
A missionary answering the call
She made her way through mountains, never looking back
Until she reached the tribal village wall
For forty-seven years she told how Jesus saves
There were few successes, but she faithfully remained
And when she breathed her final breath, only native people grieved
But as she arrived in Heaven, she could not believe

She heard applause
Echo through the courtyard
And off the jasper walls
Applause, the sound of saints and angels
Welcoming her home where she belonged
And right before her eyes stood the Holy Lamb of God
Leading all of Heaven in applause

He loved his wife for 50 years, and they brought up three sons
He ran a little country grocery store
He never made a million, but he made a happy life
And always said he couldn't ask for more
When he saw his neighbor in need of daily bread
There'd be a card with "Jesus Loves You" and food left on their step
The church was full the afternoon they laid him in the grave
But he'd never seen a crowd like the one at Heaven's gate

He heard applause
Echo through the courtyard
And off the jasper walls
Applause, the sound of saints and angels
Welcoming him home where he belonged
And right before his eyes stood the Holy Lamb of God
Leading all of Heaven in applause

There's a cloud of witnesses
Who stand for you and cheer
So run your race and keep the faith
And one day you will hear

Applause
Echo through the courtyard
And off the jasper walls
Applause, the sound of saints and angels
Welcoming you home where you belong
And right before eyes stands the Holy Lamb of God
Leading all of Heaven in applause

UNDER GOD

Sue C. Smith & Phil Johnson

Half a century ago
Two simple words
Declared a truth that’s planted in our hearts
And every time the flag is raised
We’ve been honored to repeat the phrase
So the world will know we are

Under God
America’s been blessed
Under God
Brought through every trial and test
We are sheltered by the mercy He chose to give
In privilege and abundance this nation lives
Under God
Freedom has survived
Under God
We need to recognize
We’re dependent on His goodness
Indebted to His care
Maybe more than any people
Anytime or anywhere
Still our only hope and prayer
Is Under God

When we pledge allegiance now
It's under God
Those words have shaped the land that we hold dear
Some insist it's not allowed
To acknowledge that we need Him now
But It has never been so clear

Under God
America’s been blessed
Under God
Brought through every trial and test
We are sheltered by the mercy He chose to give
In privilege and abundance this nation lives
Under God
Freedom has survived
Under God
We need to recognize
We’re dependent on His goodness
Indebted to His care
Maybe more than any people
Anytime or anywhere
Still our only hope and prayer
Is Under God

LAY IT DOWN

Author???

I've been looking till my eyes are tired of looking
Listening till my ears are numb from listening
Praying till my knees are sore
From kneeling on the bedroom floor

I know that you know that my heart is aching
I'm running out of tears and my will is breaking
I don't think I can carry the burden
Of it anymore

'Cause all of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans
Are slowly slipping through my folded hands

So I'm gonna lay it down
I'm gonna learn to trust you now
What else can I do
Everything I am depends on you
And if the sun don't come back up
I know your love will be enough
So I'm gonna let it be
I'm gonna let it go
I'm gonna lay it down

I've been walking through this world like I'm barely living
Buried in the doubt of this hole I've been digging
But you're pulling me out
And I'm finally breathing in the open air

This room may be dark but I'm finally seeing
There's a new ray of hope and now I'm believing
That the past is past and the future's beginning
To look brighter now

'Cause all of my hopes and my dreams and my best laid plans
Are safe and secure when I place them in your hands

So I'm gonna lay it down
I'm gonna learn to trust you now
What else can I do
Everything I am depends on you
And if the sun don't come back up
I know your love will be enough
So I'm gonna let it be
I'm gonna let it go
I'm gonna lay it down

CLOUD NINE, HEADED FOR TEN

Mark Bishop

So many times I’ve wondered how it must have felt
To be alive in Jesus’ day.
To see the many miracles Jesus performed,
Like when the lame got up and walked away.
I wonder what ol’ Lazarus was thinking,
When Jesus called him out of the grave.
I couldn’t begin to imagine the thrill,
But maybe they heard him say,
“I feel more than okay.”

I’m like Elijah called up in the wind,
I’m ol’ Daniel walkin’ out of the lions' den.
I ain’t felt this good since I don’t know when,
I’m on cloud nine, headed for ten.

I have been defeated by my worry and doubt,
Held captive by the pain and the hurt.
And when within myself I try to figure it out,
It only goes from bad to worse.
Down on my knees, I cry to the Lord,
And I begin to feel it inside,
How can I explain it when my heart overflows?
There are no words to describe,
Just what I feel like...

I’m like Elijah called up in the wind,
I’m ol’ Daniel walkin’ out of the lions' den.
I ain’t felt this good since I don’t know when,
I’m on cloud nine, headed for ten.
