HE LOOKED BEYOND THE CROSS

Author Unknown

He was numbered with the sinners on the cross,
Yet He patiently, in love, endured it all.
For Jesus looked beyond that hill
And knew the grave would soon reveal
The reason why He gladly paid redemption's awful cost.

He looked beyond the nails and saw the wondrous joy.
Just ahead all brokenness would be restored.
He saw that resurrection day; He saw old sinners being saved
As He looked beyond the cross and saw the joy.

Jesus' view was clear as His life began to fade,
For He saw His blood would be the perfect way
To offer His own perfect soul
So every sinner could be whole
For the joy set before Him, He finished it that day.

He looked beyond the nails and saw the wondrous joy.
Just ahead all brokenness would be restored.
He saw that resurrection day; He saw old sinners being saved
As He looked beyond the cross and saw the joy.

He saw a wedding supper
With His children gathered around.
He heard us sing our song of joy,
"Worthy is the Lamb!"

He saw that resurrection day; He saw old sinners being saved
As He looked beyond the cross and saw the joy.
