GOD'S BUILDING A CHURCH

Author Unknown

For much too long the church has been
An underdog to the feet of men
God's building a church on the rise
We've been trampled on in the heat of the fight
This church has got eternal light
It's almost time for church to fly
God's building a church (and I'm so glad that...)

God's building a church
It's gonna march like a mighty army band
God's building a church
It'll be water to the dry and barren land
God's building a church
It's gonna rise from a valley of dead dry bones
Sanctified
Glorified
Filled with the Holy Ghost’s power and might
Purified with fire divine
God's building a church

On Calvary's tree it started there
He handed it down to the hands of men
God's building a church on the rise (and I like this...)
Satan's about to run in fright
As the saints of God in glorious might
We race across the enemy lines
With holy banners wavin' high

God's building a church
It's going to march like a mighty army band
God's building a church
It'll be water to the dry and barren land
God's building a church
It's gonna rise from a valley of dead dry bones
Sanctified
Glorified
Filled with the Holy Ghost’s power and might
Purified with fire divine
God's building a church

WHO AM I?

John Mark Hall

Who am I
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I
That the bright and morning Star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart?

Not because of who I am,
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling,
And You've told me who I am.
I am yours.

Who am I
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again?
Who am I
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me?

Not because of who I am,
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling,
And You've told me who I am.
I am yours.

MY NAME IS LAZARUS

Rodney Griffin

One day, four men brought a crippled man to Jesus
Still and lifeless, he lay upon his bed
He had not moved since he was just a baby
Still he longed to become a normal man

Now we don’t know much about the men that carried
The corners of his tattered bed that day
But if we may create an illustration
We’ll see what these men might have had to say

Suppose that first man said, “I hate to doubt it
For Jesus touched my eyes when I was blind
He made me see and there’s no doubt about it
But this man’s needs are more serious than mine”

Suppose that second man said, “No need to bother
This man’s condition will remain the same
Though Jesus touched my hand when it was withered
I don’t believe He can heal a man so lame”

Suppose that third man said, “I hate to question
But no one here is more skeptical than me
Though Jesus cleansed me when I was a leper
This helpless man will never walk, you see”

Then every eye was turned to the fourth man
To see how he might criticize and doubt
But all three men were startled with amazement
When that fourth man stopped and said his name out loud

He said, “My name is Lazarus, could I testify?
My name is Lazarus, it feels good to be alive
When I in chains of death was bound
This man named Jesus called me out
If you think your little problem is too big for Him to solve
Take it from the one who’s heard the mighty voice of God
A living testimony of His death-defying touch,
My name is Lazarus”

DOES JESUS CARE?

Frank E. Graeff

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song,
As the burdens press, and the cares distress,
And the way grows weary and long?

Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when my way is dark
With a nameless dread and fear?
As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
Does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed
To resist some temptation strong;
When for my deep grief there is no relief,
Though my tears flow all the night long?

Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

Does Jesus care when I’ve said “goodbye”
To the dearest on earth to me,
And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks—
Is it aught to Him? Does He see?

Oh, yes, He cares, I know He cares,
His heart is touched with my grief;
When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
I know my Savior cares.

PRAYER FOR A FRIEND

John Mark Hall

Lord, I lift my friend to You,
I've done all that I know to do
I lift my friend to You
Complicated circumstances
Have clouded his view
Lord, I lift my friend up to You

I fear that I won't have the words
That he needs to hear
I pray for Your wisdom, oh God,
And a heart that's sincere
Lord, I lift my friend up to You

Lord, I lift my friend to You
My best friend in the world,
I know he means much more to You
I want so much to help him,
But this is something he has to do
And Lord, I lift my friend up to You

'Cause there's a way that seems so right to him
But You know where that leads
He's becoming a puppet of the world,
Too blind to see the strings
Lord, I lift my friend up to You
My friend up to You

Lord, I lift my friend to You,
I've done all that I know to do
I lift my friend to You

NOTHING TAKES YOU BY SURPRISE

Mark Harris and Tony Wood

It may be a phone call
That comes without warning
And suddenly my heart is breaking
It may be a headline
I wake to one morning
And suddenly my world is shaken
But every now and then
When life falls apart
There’s a truth I trust
That calms my heart

Nothing takes You by surprise
Here beneath these troubled skies
There’s a comfort just to realize
Nothing takes You by surprise

Sometimes the hard times seem
Senseless and random
Like life’s just a series of chances
But come what may you’ve never
Left us abandoned
You’re God over all circumstances
And nothing on earth
Can ever change Your plans
You’re in control
We’re in Your hands

Nothing takes You by surprise
Here beneath these troubled skies
There’s a comfort just to realize
Nothing takes You by surprise

Though bitter winds blow
This truth is sweet
Things out of our hands
Are still under Your feet – and

Nothing takes You by surprise
Here beneath these troubled skies
There’s a comfort just to realize
Nothing takes You by surprise

Whatever crisis may arise
Jesus, You're Lord of our lives
Nothing takes You by surprise

SO MUCH GOD

Craig Edwards

Who was that babe born in Bethlehem?
They laid him in a manger, there was no room in the inn;
He was born of a virgin, He was God's only Son,
The angels shouted in the night that Christ had come!

Who was that man, the man of Galilee
Who made the lame to walk and caused the blind to see?
He cleansed the spotted leper, He spoke with authority,
He broke the chains of sin and set the captives free.

He was so much man that He slept in a boat,
Yet he was so much God that the winds ceased when He spoke.
He was so much man that He wept when Lazarus died,
Yet He was so much God, Lazarus came forth when He cried.
He was so much man that He thirsted at the well,
Yet He was so much God that He saved her soul from Hell.
He was so much man that He died upon a tree,
He was so much God that He rose in victory.

Who was that man crying from the tree,
"Father please forgive them for what they've done to me?"
They placed him in a borrowed tomb; a stone held fast the door,
He rose up from the grave and He lives forevermore.

He was so much man that He died upon a tree,
He was so much God, He was so much man
He was so much God that He rose in victory!

WHO MOVED

Author Unknown

The money is gone, the rent is due
Don't know what you're gonna do
How could Jesus leave you in
Such obvious despair?
Take a look at why you feel alone
Don't blame God for being gone
He's not the One who refused you
And He's there to hear your prayer

Who moved when the lights grew dim?
Who moved? Are you sure it was Him?
Do you still pray and seek to do the Father's will?
Who moved? The One who promised to care?
Who moved? He said He'd always be there.
You just might be surprised to see who moved.

If there's an emptiness inside you
A void that you can't fill
Open up your Bible and listen for that still,
Small voice to call you back
When you've strayed from His strong hand
Then go forth in the victory
Waiting for the next command.

Who moved when the lights grew dim?
Who moved? Are you sure it was Him?
Do you still pray and seek to do the Father's will?
Who moved? The One who promised to care?
Who moved? He said He'd always be there.
You just might be surprised to see who moved.

You just might be surprised to see. . .
Open your Bible, and you will see. . .
Take a look at yourself, and you will see. . .
Who moved.

IN BETTER HANDS NOW

Jim Daddario; Catt Gravitt; Thomas Ronald Hardwell

It's hard to stand on shifting sand
It's hard to shine in the shadows of the night
You can't be free if you don't reach for help
You cant love if you don't love yourself
There is hope when my faith runs out
'Cause I'm in better hands now

It's like the sun is shining when the rain is pouring down
It's like my soul is flying though my feet are on the ground
So take this heart of mine; there's no doubt
I'm in better hands now

I am strong all because of you
I stand in awe of every mountain that you move
Oh, I am changed, yesterday is gone
I am safe from this moment on
There's no fear when the night comes 'round
I'm in better hands now

It's like the sun is shining when the rain is pouring down
It's like my soul is flying though my feet are on the ground
So take this heart of mine; there's no doubt
I'm in better hands now

It's like the sun is shining when the rain is pouring down
It's like my soul is flying though my feet are on the ground
It's like the world is silent though I know it isn't true
It's like the breath of Jesus is right here in this room

So take this heart of mine; there's no doubt
I'm in better hands now
