AIN'T GOD GOOD?

Author?

For forty long years God's people journeyed in the wilderness
Searching for canaan, that blessed promised land
They never went too hungry, nor they never got too thirsty
But the more that God kept blessing them, the more they would complain

Ain't God good to give us so many blessings?
Undeserving, that's what we are.
We ought to thank Him, love and praise Him
A little more today, and a whole lot more tomorrow.

In the time that we live, so many are unthankful
And any more they fail to see that God has given all
Never having time for God, they're always busy working
To pay for cars, new homes, tvs', and carpets wall to wall

Ain't God good to give us so many blessings?
Undeserving, that's what we are.
We ought to thank Him, love and praise Him
A little more today, and a whole lot more tomorrow.

LOOKING FOR A CITY

W. Oliver Cooper and Marvin P. Dalton

Here among the shadows in a lonely land,
We're a band of pilgrims on the move;
Burdened down with sorrows, shunned on every hand,
Looking for a city built above.

Looking for a city, where we'll never die,
There the sainted millions, never say goodbye,
There we'll meet our Savior, and our loved ones too,
Come O Holy Spirit, all our hopes renew.

Here in disappointment we so sadly roam,
Friends no longer speak one word of love;
O we have found contentment, Jesus promised us a home,
And I'm looking for a city built above.

Looking for a city, where we'll never die,
There the sainted millions, never say goodbye,
There we'll meet our Savior, and our loved ones too,
Come O Holy Spirit, all our hopes renew.

In this land of dangers going here and there
Trusting in the blessed Saviors love;
Tho' we may be strangers, in this world of care,
Looking for a city built above.

Looking for a city, where we'll never die,
There the sainted millions, never say goodbye,
There we'll meet our Savior, and our loved ones too,
Come O Holy Spirit, all our hopes renew.

MEANWHILE BACK AT THE CROSS

The devil laughed and said, "I’ve won
God has lost his only Son
The brightest star no longer shines
Finally, this world is mine."
Then he gathered all his demons near
He said, "We have conquered love with fear."

Meanwhile, back at the cross
All is not lost
Forgiveness is bought with each drop of his blood
It falls to the ground
Mercy abounds
As his mother, Mary’s, tears fall down
To see her precious son pay the cost

The devil said "We’ll use their pride;
We’ll attack them from inside
Fill their hearts with vanity
Til their differences are all they’ll see
Black and white, rich and poor
To justify their holy war."

 Meanwhile, back at the cross
All is not lost
Forgiveness is bought with each drop of his blood
It falls to the ground
Mercy abounds
As his mother, Mary’s, tears fall down
To see her precious son pay the cost

Take a look around
Turn on the evening news
The devil said,"There’s no way I’m gonna lose.
Hate is everywhere;
Love cannot be found
It took me two thousand years,
But it’s almost over now

Meanwhile, back at the cross
All is not lost
Forgiveness is bought with each drop of his blood
It falls to the ground
Mercy abounds
As his mother, Mary’s, tears fall down
To see her precious son pay the cost
At the cross

SPIRIT OF BROKENNESS

Rodney Griffin

I remember the night so long ago,
The first time I called Your name;
Empty and broken, ashamed of my sin,
I asked if this sinner You'd save.
But the cares of life have darkened the light,
And I feel like I'm drifting away.
So break me, mold me, cleanse me, then hold me,
I want to be near You today.

Lord, give me a spirit of brokenness,
Like You gave when I first called Your name.
And replace all my pride with humility,
Lord, a broken, willing vessel I'll be.

I never set out to drift into sin,
My intentions are never to stray;
But my flesh is weak, and I'm so prone to fall,
Like a child I go my own way;
'Til I hear Your cry from deep down inside,
Saying, "Go back to Calvary again.
There you'll see my flesh opened and my spirit broken,
Then surely your drifting will end."

Lord, give me a spirit of brokenness,
Like You gave when I first called Your name.
And replace all my pride with humility,
Lord, a broken, willing vessel I'll be.

UNDESERVED

Sheryl Farris

He was sinless yet betrayed and denied,
Bound and so beaten, He was hard to recognize.
Bloody and swollen, the crown of thorns upon His brow,
It wasn’t fair, so undeserved.
Every breath He took just added to His pain,
Nailed to that cross, oh it seemed He died in vain,
The spotless Lamb of God, dying all alone,
It wasn’t fair, so undeserved.

So undeserved. This is not the way it should have been.
Much more extreme and so hard to comprehend,
Why He would die to cleanse the wickedness of man.
He died for all so that all might live,
So undeserved, so undeserved.

I am a sinner but I have been redeemed,
With blood He bought me. Yes, I belong to Him.
I wandered in sin, but He reached out and took me in,
It isn’t fair, so undeserved.
I was guilty, but He paid my penalty,
I was in bondage, but by His power I am free.
I stand amazed, walking in His grace,
It isn’t fair, so undeserved.

So undeserved. This is not the way it should have been.
Much more extreme and so hard to comprehend,
Why He would die to cleanse the wickedness of man.
He died for all so that all might live,
So undeserved, so undeserved.

FOR ALL HE'S DONE

Chris Allman

Every morning when I wake to see the sun
I can't help but think about the Lord
And all the things He's done
He meets my every need
You know He's been so good to me
And I can't help but praise the Lord for all He's done.

For all He's done
I'm gonna lift my hands and praise Him
For all He's done
I'll try to live my life to please Him
Even though I don't deserve to live
My life has just begun
And I can't help but praise the Lord for all He's done.

There are many things that I could praise God for
And if I started now, until I die
There'd still be many more
If I could mention only one
I'd have to thank Him for His Son
Now that's enough to praise the Lord for all He's done.

For all He's done
I'm gonna lift my hands and praise Him
For all He's done
I'll try to live my life to please Him
Even though I don't deserve to live
My life has just begun
And I can't help but praise the Lord for all He's done.

OUT OF MY DARKNESS

Roger Bennett

Out of my darkness, Jesus' blood has won the fight
Into His likeness, what a wonderful sight.
Making my way into His kingdom so bright
Out of my darkness and into His light

Stumbling in darkness I was bound up in sin
Constantly losing the battle within
But what a great transformation, oh, the glory did roll
On that wondrous day my name was added to the roll

Then I came out of my darkness, Jesus' blood has won the fight
Into His likeness, what a wonderful sight.
Making my way into His kingdom so bright
Out of my darkness and into His light

Long ago and far away a tomb was occupied
The victim of a cruel death was tightly sealed inside
But then the Victim turned to Victor when the stone was rolled away
He stepped outside, the darkness died, His light remains today.

Out of my darkness, Jesus' blood has won the fight
Into His likeness, what a wonderful sight.
Making my way into His kingdom so bright
Out of my darkness and into His light
